Lifeboat Press Officer (LPO)

The LPO produces press releases and news articles and is the contact at the station for:

• answering journalists' enquiries
• liaising with the press and broadcast media on an ad-hoc basis via telephone, email and networking
• monitoring press and broadcast coverage about our station
• arranging local press conferences, news briefings and media interviews
• managing the press and media in a potential crisis situation, protecting and supporting our crew.

Film and media

As a charity, we benefit from gaining publicity about our lifesaving work. Where possible, the RNLI will try to facilitate requests for the production of specialist TV and radio programmes, interviews and photo-shoots. We have been involved in documentaries, dramas, lifestyle and news features as well as technical, historic and human-interest features. Lifeboat-related images and copy can be supplied on request.
